Morning Star
05:13
|
|||
Life gets in the way of a perfect day
Seems like we’ve been on the shelf for way too long
This is your song coming fast
No time to dwell in the past
Oh, I didn’t mean to spoil your perfect dream
That’s no reason for you to kiss it goodbye
Don’t you cry, take my hand
Your every wish is my command
Do do do do
Do do do do
Do do do do do do do do do oo oo
Let me tell you now and let me show you how
What we have cannot be confined to this verse
So let’s reverse this reckoning
‘Cause eternity is beckoning
When the Morning Star
Rises in your heart as the day dawns
You will know for certain
You will know for sure
You will sing this song…

Hello Me To You
03:30
|
|||
I was walking by the record store
It was by the stairs on the second floor
By chance you were serving a customer
With your gothic dress and your long dark hair
With vinyl well and truly gone
No one could make me sing this song
Just like you did
Just like you did
When you looked my way and you said
Hello me
Hello me
Hello me to you
Well I got a job in the record shop
And the visiting reps became non stop
On Fridays we were rigging the charts
My contribution to modern arts
I was an accomplice I admit
But that music sent me in a fit
Just like you did
Just like you did
When you said
Hello!
I thought you liked The Replacements
But Bon Jovi was what you meant
That’s what you meant
That’s what you meant
Doesn’t make a difference anyway
‘Cause you said
Hello me
Hello me
Hello me to you

When The Morning Comes
04:05
|
|||
In the stillness of the night
The city forges you a dream
Hey hey there little darling
Things may not be what they seem
We will see how this life unfolds
When the morning comes
There’s a flower of regret
That’s planted somewhere in the soul
A picture perfect moment dies
I guess we’ll need to improvise
There is nowhere else I’d rather be
When the morning comes
Ooh, when the morning comes
I want to be ‘round
When the morning comes
I will stand by your side
When the morning comes
As cold as the winter gets
There’s still washing to be done
When the stench of regrets fade
We will see the rising sun
That dries the clothes of our imagination
When the morning comes
I say when the morning comes
Ooh, when the morning comes
Ooh, when the morning comes
I will stand by your side
When the morning comes
And we’re still one
Still one throughout it
So let’s be glad
Let’s be glad about it
When the morning comes
When the morning comes
I want to be ‘round in your arms
I will stand by your side
I will stand by your side
You know I will stand by your side
When the morning comes
When the morning comes

Memories
04:22
|
|||
I went outside
To see if I could see your face in the clouds above
I spent all day just wondering
What would have become if I could keep our love
Why do the birds still sing
Above the traffic jams in the morning
I guess I’ll wait and see
What will become of
Memories that fill my mind
Are slowly fading with the passing time
But every now and then
The scent of your clothes will take me back again
This satellite
That circles your top drawer
Why do you follow me
This fading memory
Memories, sweet memories
I breathe out every breath when you breathe in
Memories, oh memories
You are the next best thing
Just like a dream
You slowly disappear
Without goodbyes
And leave me without memories
Just like a dream
Oh you slowly disappear
Without goodbyes
And leave me without
Memories, oh memories
I breathe out every breath when you breathe in
Memories, oh memories
Who is your next of kin
Just like a dream
I awake to find you’re gone
Without goodbyes
And leave me without memories
Just like a dream
I awake to find you’re gone
Without goodbyes
And leave me without memories

Not That Bad At All
06:35
|
|||
I’ve been stuck in the middle of a moment
Between a job and a passionate design
It’s one long drawn out battle that’s been going on
I’ve been stuck in a room of mediocrity
My expectations are coming to a close
The door is locked and the keys are lost, I suppose
But I’ve got to give it over, now…
It’s not that bad, not that bad
It’s not that bad at all
It’s not that bad, not that bad
It’s not that bad at all
Got to loose the things of this world
I got to loose the plans I’m holding too dear
One part says stop, one says go without the fear
A change is gonna come, oh yes it is!
But the voices keep whispering in my ear
It’s one long drawn out death that’s been going on
For the sake of the Living God
It’s not that bad, not that bad
It’s not that bad at all
It’s not that bad, not that bad
It’s not that bad at all
First there came the engagement ring
The wedding ring then the suffer-ring!
I never planned to give it all to You
But the walls came crashing down
Gonna walk right into this day today
Gonna walk up to the troubles in my life
Gonna take them head on, cuts and bruises will appear
Gonna take up the slack in my relationships
Gonna practise what’s coming from my lips
Gonna fly a kite with my kids, take hands off my hips
There’s a prayer that is bona fide
It’s as sweet as a lullaby
Things they change before your very eyes
It’s not that bad, not that bad
It’s not that bad at all
It’s not that bad, not that bad
It’s not that bad at all
It’s not that bad, well in fact
It’s not that bad at all
It’s not that bad, not that bad
It’s not that bad at all

Restoration Blues
04:47
|
|||
You can restore an antique
But you can’t restore your mind
You can restore an old transistor radio
But you can’t restore your heart
I can restore anything
But you’re not listening
What good is it to gain the whole world
Yet forfeit your soul?
You can deny your need for salvation
But I’m here to wake up the dead
Come on back, come on back
Come on back to live
I know you can’t ignore me anymore
I know you can’t ignore me
Why do you bother trying to ignore me
You can’t ignore me anymore
Be careful of the thorns in your heart
That are choking up all your dreams
You can buy yourself a rope, if you wish
But you can’t avert an eternal anguish
You can’t ignore a promise
Don’t let it get stolen from you
Come and cast on me your burdens
Your burdens
All your burdens now
All your burdens now
All your burdens now
Let me show you how

So here I lie at the bottom of the garden
Can I say something, well I beg your pardon
If there was a chance I could get myself out of here
If there was a chance could you lend me your ear
You know I was the man with a penchant
For the brutalist melody and things I won’t begin to mention
Clothed in purple and finest attire
Now my body is thrown in the fire
Is there someone to thank
Is there someone to thank for all of this
Is there someone to thank for all of this
Oh please tell my brothers about me so
At my father’s house I really want them to know
You say they have the prophets and Moses
But is a dead man’s account really so worthless
Now I’m crushed under the heel of the enemy
And I’m cursed and separated by this enmity
I know my mistake I should have heard the cries
Of the broken hearted that I did despise
Is there someone to thank
Is there someone to thank for all of this
Is there someone to thank for all of this
Is there someone to thank for all of this
Look at the truth I denied
The chasm is long and it’s wide and
The distance is burning me up inside
Is there someone to thank
Is there someone to thank for all of this
Is there someone to thank
Is there someone to thank for all of this
Is there someone to thank for all of this, yeah yeah
Is there someone to thank
Is there someone to thank for all of this
Is there someone to thank for all of this

Nineteen Years Ago
05:01
|
|||
It was only nineteen years ago
Sitting in the car with the radio
Crying to an AM station
That song was my salvation, yes
Something in the music spoke my pain
Something in the words I can’t explain
It was only nineteen years ago
It was only nineteen years ago
I remember walking out the door
I would see your face no more
It was only nineteen years ago
It was only nineteen sixty one
You were dreaming of your bride to come
And working in a foreign land
Though the words you would not understand
Must have been the strangest dream to dream
To live in a life of such extremes
It was only nineteen sixty one
It was only six years later on
You would hold her in your arms
Someone you could call your own
You’d no longer be alone
Just like the wind that sways the trees
When winter’s stealing every leaf
It was only nineteen years ago
When I had to let you go

Tonight
04:26
|
|||
You were the One when I first met You
You were the One that blessed my heart
You spoke the earth into existence
Like a flame from a spark
There are mountains in the way
How I’ve seen better days
But I will run to You
Tonight, tonight, tonight, to You tonight
The world has hypnotized the morning
Why’s it an automatic drag
Why do I look back to yesteryear
To see my hopes and dreams rolled in a tear?
O Holy Spirit, find the truth in me
Tonight, tonight, tonight
But when it’s all been said and done
I want to stand before the Lord
Who can deny the power of His love?
This stunning promise from above
Tonight I’ll look to You
Tonight You’re gonna be there too
Tonight, tonight
Tonight I want to lay it on the floor for You
And start again again
Come wipe the tears
Tonight’s a very special night
O Tonight

This is the time to put away all these childish deeds
This is the time to stop all this make-believe
The dogs of sin are barking outside your door
I guess it’s something that I can’t ignore
Lost in a head full of lies that I believed
And I’ll never take offence if You
Make me be what You want me to be
And I’ll lift You up so high
Your name behold
‘Cause the colour of Your street is gold
In love You came to stand as a witness at my trial
And in love You did burn every impurity
You took the shame, You did set the prisoner free
And nailed it on the cross at Calvary
I was dressed up in scarlet
But You made me as white as snow
And I’ll wear it on my chest
Won’t You make me be what You want me to be
Right now, ‘cause I can’t think it for myself
Why do I fall asleep when I’m counting lost sheep?
Consider the options ‘cause I’ve got to know
That the colour of your street is
The colour of Your street is
Colour of Your street is gold

You Can't Buy Happiness
07:31
|
|||
You can’t buy happiness
You can’t buy happiness
You can’t buy happiness
‘Cause it’s not for sale
You can’t buy happiness
You can’t buy happiness
You can’t buy happiness
‘Cause it’s not for sale
You can sure as hell buy sadness
I see it in every shop window
But when does it turn to gladness
Or joy or peace?
You know you can’t buy happiness
You can’t buy happiness
You can’t buy happiness
‘Cause it’s not for sale
I tried to ignore it
And I tried to restore it
And there are moments of pleasure
Moments that I want to treasure
But I can’t buy much happiness
You can sure as hell buy sadness
At any old record store
They call it blues
You could call it country
You could call it dance
But it sure ain’t happiness
Where is my Lord?
Where are you now?
Where is my Lord today?
Where is my Lord?
Come by here now!
Where is my Lord today?
Just close your eyes
And I will come to you
Don’t ever think that I’d leave you hanging by a thread
This is my gift to you
You know you can’t buy happiness
You can’t buy happiness
You can sure as hell buy the sadness
But you can’t buy a friend
I said, where is my Lord today?
Where are you now?
Where is my Lord today?
Where is my Lord?
Come by here now!
Where is my Lord today?
